Plans are worthless; Planning is essential. PMO (Project Management Office) in any organizations is responsible for Enterprise Project Management Planning, Infrastructure and Methodology.

I worked for various projects in various industries, PMO plays very important role for organization growth, it provides direct oversight of the organization’s portfolio of projects, as well as guidance and support to the Project Sponsors, Project Owners and Project Managers, who share in the responsibility for delivering on strategic initiatives.

PMO Key responsibilities are… to provides Guidance, support and oversight to project leadership. Ensures development and verification of a complete Project Charter, funding request process (assessing funding needs and requests for additional funding), validation of a defensible ROI.

To avoid conflicts and delays they also take responsibility of assigning enough Human Resources to the Business folks for respective to their Departments, which help them to implement the projects with dedicated project team.

It supports Project leadership throughout the project lifecycle with respect to Enterprise Project Management infrastructure and methodology; which helps to ensure Closure to issues, problems and risks that require executive decision or intervention. Escalate critical issues, problems and risks that require executive decision or intervention. Audit project management deliverables, verifying that they align with the project’s 
methodological approach and that they further the progress of the project.
